PacelyPrivacy Policy
Pacely is a browser extension that helps you limit the time you spend on websites you choose. This policy explains exactly what data Pacely handles.
Pacely does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your data.
Everything it stores stays inside your own browser. There are no analytics,
no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party servers.
What Pacely accesses
- The address (URL) of your active tab. Pacely reads the hostname and path of the tab you are currently viewing so it can tell whether that site is one you have chosen to pace. This check happens locally, in the moment, and the URL is not stored or sent anywhere.
- Sites and limits you configure. The websites you add, their daily and session limits, session windows, and the global settings (daily reset hour, new-session gap, snooze length).
- Your usage counters. How much time you have spent today on each configured site, your current session state, snooze counts, and up to 30 days of daily history — used to power the popup and statistics page.
Where your data is stored
- Settings are stored in
chrome.storage.sync. If you have Chrome Sync enabled, Chrome itself may sync this small configuration across your signed-in devices. This is handled entirely by the browser; Pacely has no server and never receives a copy. - Usage counters and history are stored in
chrome.storage.localand never leave your device.
Pacely only reads and writes these two storage areas. It does not use cookies, IndexedDB, remote APIs, or network requests of any kind.
What Pacely does NOT do
- It does not send any data off your device.
- It does not use analytics or telemetry.
- It does not include ads or third-party code.
- It does not sell or share data with anyone.
- It does not track your browsing history beyond the momentary, local check described above.
Data retention and deletion
- Daily history is automatically pruned to the last 30 days.
- Removing a site from Pacely deletes its stored usage.
- Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data. Synced settings can be cleared from within Chrome's sync controls.
Children's privacy
Pacely is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children, and it collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Effective date" above will be updated and the new version published at the same URL.
